Wright Named ECAC DIII South Women's Player of the Week

CENTERVILLE, Mass. – Sophomore forward Alexis Wright (Shillington, Pa./Governor Mifflin HS) of the Moravian College women's basketball squad has been named the ECAC Division III South Women's Basketball Player of the Week for her performance last week, marking the second time this season that Wright has earned the honor from the ECAC.

Wright, who was also named the Landmark Conference Player of the week Monday for the third time this season, led the Greyhounds to a 2-0 record over conference opponents last week after averaging 17.5 points and 9.5 rebounds to go with her four blocks and four steals.

Wright put up 19 points, seven boards, three blocks, three steals and two assists in a 73-51 victory over Drew on Wednesday. She then recorded her ninth double-double in a 62-59 defeat of nationally-ranked No. 17 The Catholic University of America. Wright tallied 16 points and 12 rebounds in the contest.

On the season, Wright is averaging 17.3 points and 12.2 rebounds per contest to go with her 33 blocks, 33 steals and 18 assists.

Moravian, ranked 22nd in the nation in the latest D3hoops.com Top 25 poll and 14-2 overall this season, returns to the court on Wednesday, January 16th when the squad travels to The United States Merchant Marine Academy for a Landmark Conference game tipping off at 7:00 p.m.
