Beck DeKorte Named to MAC Hall of Fame

ANNVILLE, Pa. --- Former Moravian College women's basketball standout Kathy Beck DeKorte has been selected as part of the second class to be inducted into the Middle Atlantic Conference Hall of Fame announced by the MAC office Tuesday.

The MAC of which Moravian was a member from 1945 until 2007 established a hall of fame as part of the celebration of its 100th anniversary in 2012-13. Last year, Moravian's Rocco Calvo and Harvey "Gil" Gillespie were two of a 36-member inaugural class selected from current and former MAC member institutions, and all three Moravian MAC Hall of Fame selections are also members of Moravian's Athletic Hall of Fame.

DeKorte, who was named to the MAC 100 All-Century Team for Women's Basketball back in March, was a four-year letterwinner at Moravian. She set school records with 1,936 career points and 1,014 career rebounds. She was a two-time Kodak All American and the 1991-1992 Kodak Division III Player of the Year. DeKorte led the Greyhounds to the National Championship game in 1991-92 when the team was 31-2. She was a three-time Middle Atlantic Conference All-Star, the MAC Southeast and Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference South Player of the Year in 1990-91 and 1991-92, and the ECAC Rookie of the Year in 1988-89. She also led Moravian to the MAC Championship in the 1990-91 and 1991-92 seasons. In the 1988-89 season, DeKorte led Moravian to the ECAC Tournament, and as a sophomore, junior and senior she helped the team get to the NCAA Tournament. In 1992, she received the Greyhound Award as Moravian's Outstanding Senior Female Athlete.

Moravian will be planning an on-campus ceremony to honor DeKorte during the 2013-14 academic year and will announce more information when the ceremony in finalized.
