Moravian Named Landmark Women's Basketball Sportsmanship Award Winner

TOWSON, Md. --- The Moravian College women's basketball team has earned the Landmark Conference Women's Basketball Sportsmanship Award. The NCAA and the Landmark Conference have placed a special emphasis on sportsmanship with the hope of encouraging positive interaction not only amongst teams competing, but the fans in attendance as well.

The Landmark Student-Athlete Advisory Committee created the Sportsmanship Cup in the fall of 2009 and by the end of the year; one institution will be awarded the trophy.

The Landmark SAAC Sportsmanship Cup is designed to recognize the Landmark institution that demonstrates the best overall sportsmanship over the course of the year. The Cup is awarded based on a formula that compiles the votes of each Landmark coach in consultation with their team captains ranking the top-3 sportsmanship programs in their respective sports. The formula also takes into account the number of sports an institution sponsors.

The Greyhounds are currently 21-6 on the season and will host the ECAC Division III South Semifinals and Championship on Saturday, March 2nd and Sunday, March 3rd in Johnston Hall as the top seed in the tournament. Moravian will play Landmark Conference foe Juniata College in the semifinals on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
