Moravian Falls to Salisbury in Second Match of Spartan Invitational

The Moravian College women's volleyball team fell to Salisbury University, 25-18, 21-25, 25-20, 25-18 in the second match on the opening day of the York College of Pennsylvania Spartan Invitational Friday evening.

Freshman outside hitter Taylor Jennings led the Greyhounds with 13 kills and ten digs while junior libero Jesse Kasley contributed 29 digs. Sophomore setter Kelly Brown had 38 assists and 12 digs for Moravian while senior defensive specialist Ashley Schmidt, pictured, had 15 digs to move into seventh in school history with 1,078 digs. Junior right side hitter Samantha Savite contributed 11 kills while senior middle blocker Katie Moquete had eight kills and four digs. Junior outside hitter JeanAnne Carey added three kills and three digs for Moravian.

Junior setter Carley Todd led Salisbury with 13 kills, 18 assists, 13 digs, three blocks and two service aces while junior opposite hitter Jenna Shay had nine kills. Junior middle hitters Kelly Vieira and Chelsea Glowacki each had seven kills and three blocks for the Sea Gulls with Vieira adding ten digs and three service aces while Glowacki added 12 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Sam Seifert had four kills for Salisbury while freshman defensive specialist Michelle Meehan had a team high 20 digs. Senior setter Lindsey Saltzmen led the Sea Gulls with 23 assists to go with eight digs and three kills.

The Greyhounds will return to action on Saturday, September 24 on the second day of the York College of Pennsylvania Spartan Invitational with a match versus The University of Rochester at 10:00 a.m.
