Volleyball Suffers First Loss of Season to Elizabethtown

The Moravian College women's volleyball team saw its eight-match winning streak to start the 2011 season come to an end in a 24-26, 25-14, 25-14, 25-20 loss to Elizabethtown College in the opening match of the Old Friends Crossover at Messiah College.

Junior right side hitter Samantha Savite, pictured, led the Greyhounds with 13 kills while junior outside hitter JeanAnne Carey had eight kills and eight digs. Senior middle blocker Katie Moquete contributed six kills, two blocks and a service aces while freshman outside hitter Kellianne Comitalo had six kills and seven digs . Sophomore middle blocker Brittany O'Hara had three kills while sophomore setter Kelly Brown had 35 assists, 14 digs and two kills. Junior libero Jesse Krasley led Moravian with 21 digs, three assists and three service aces. Senior defensive specialist Ashley Schmidt had seven digs for the Greyhounds.

Junior middle hitter Lindsay Palm had 14 kills to lead Elizabethtown while senior outside hitter Katie Gantz added eight kills, ten digs and two service aces. Junior right side hitter Holly Bubb had seven kills and three blocks for the Blue Jays while senior middle hitter Kelsey Hayes had seven kills and seven digs. Sophomore setter Carolyn Lukiewicz had 32 assists and 19 digs while senior libero Andrea Weaver added 26 digs and two service aces.
