Krasley's 54 Digs Lead Moravian Over Widener in Season Finale

The Moravian College women's volleyball team closed out its 2011 regular season with a 25-17, 26-28, 13-25, 25-21, 15-12 win at Widener University in non-conference action Friday evening, the fifth straight win for the Greyhounds.

Junior libero Jesse Krasley, pictured at right, had a career high and school record 54 digs for the Greyhounds, and she became the first player in school history with over 700 digs in a single season, now with 708 digs this fall. Krasley also added seven assists in the match.

Junior right side hitter Samantha Savite led Moravian with 15 kills and two blocks while freshman outside hitter Taylor Jennings had 14 kills, 13 digs, four service aces and a pair of blocks. Sophomore setter Kelly Brown added 54 assists to give her 1,023 assists this season, the tenth highest single season total in school history. Brown also had 20 digs while senior defensive specialist Ashley Schmidt had 20 digs and a pair of service aces.

Senior middle blocker Katie Moquete, pictured at left, contributed 13 kills, five digs and a service ace while freshman outside hitter Kellianne Comitalo had seven kills, seven digs and a service ace. Sophomore middle blocker Brittany O'Hara had six kills and a team high four blocks for Moravian while junior outside hitter JeanAnne Carey added six kills and 12 digs.

The Pride, which had a five-match winning streak snapped, were led by Nicole Merton, who had 16 kills, four blocks and four digs, and Electra Edison, who added 11 kills, six digs, four blocks and two service aces. Jamie Ballew had 44 assists to go with 19 digs while Meghan Spence had 47 digs. Angela DiMaria contributed eight kills, 17 digs and four service aces for Widener while Veronica Vizzard had six kills and three blocks.

The Greyhounds will return to action on Wednesday, November 2nd when the squad travels to The University of Scranton for a quarterfinal match in the 2011 Landmark Conference Tournament. The match between the fifth seeded Greyhounds and fourth seeded Royals will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Long Center.
