Volleyball Opens 2011 Season With a Win

The Moravian College women's volleyball team opened the 2011 season with a 25-9, 25-12, 25-12 sweep of Gwynedd-Mercy College in the opening round of the 9th Annual Greyhound Premiere Invitational.

Junior right side hitter Samantha Savite led the Greyhounds with eight kills while senior middle blocker Katie Moquete had seven kills. Freshman outside hitter Kellianne Comitalo contributed seven kills, three digs and a pair of service aces. Junior outside hitter JeanAnne Carey added six kills, three service aces and three digs for Moravian while sophomore middle blocker Brittany O'Hara had four kills.

Sophomore setter Kelly Brown led the Greyhound offense with 31 assists, four service aces and two blocks while junior libero Jesse Krasley had a team high 15 digs to do with three service aces. Senior defensive specialist Ashley Schmidt contributed nine digs while freshman outside hitter Taylor Jennings added two kills.
