Volleyball Off to Best Start in School History

The Moravian College women's volleyball team won its eight straight match to start the season, the best start in school history at 8-0, with a 26-24, 25-22, 25-19 win over Kean University in the final match of the Buttermaker Tournament at Muhlenberg College. The Greyhounds ended up as the only undefeated team in the tournament to win the title. Prior to this season, Moravian's best start to a season was back in 2003 when the squad started the year 7-0. It is the third time in school history that the Greyhounds are at least 6-0 to start a season.

Sophomore setter Kelly Brown, pictured, who was named to the All-Tournament Team,had 32 assists and 11 digs while senior middle blocker Katie Moquete had eight kills, two blocks and two service aces. Junior right side hitter Samantha Savite also had eight kills to go with five blocks while freshman outside hitter Kellianne Comitalo contributed eight kills and five digs.

Junior outside hitter JeanAnne Carey had seven kills, five digs and a pair of service aces while junior libero Jesse Krasley added a team high 18 digs. Senior defensive specialist Ashley Schmidt had 13 digs in the victory while sophomore middle blocker Brittany O'Hara added two kills and two blocks.
