Moravian Gets First Conference Win Over Goucher

The Moravian College women's volleyball team finished off its trip to the first Landmark Conference Round Robin Weekend of the season with a 25-22, 25-8, 25-12 win over Goucher College in a match played at Juniata College.

Freshman outside hitter Taylor Jennings led the Greyhounds with ten kills and two digs while senior middle blocker Katie Moquete had eight kills to move within one kill of becoming the eighth player in school history to record 1,000 kills. Junior libero Jesse Krasley led Moravian with 23 digs to become the third player in school history to reach 1,400 career digs, and Krasley added four assists. Sophomore setter Kelly Brown had 28 assists, 13 digs and four service aces for the Greyhounds while junior outside hitter JeanAnne Carey, pictured, had eight kills, nine digs and four service aces. Junior right side hitter Samantha Savite had five kills, five digs and a pair of blocks for Moravian while senior defensive specialist Ashley Schmidt added eight digs and a service ace. Freshman outside hitter Kellianne Comitalo had two kills and six digs in the victory while sophomore middle blocker Brittany O'Hara had three blocks. Sophomore right side hitter Katelynn Strohl added two kills and two digs for the Greyhounds.

Sophomore middle blocker Trish Kallis and freshman outside hitter Kristen Courage each had five kills to lead Goucher with Kallis adding five blocks and Courage contributing 22 digs and two service aces. Sophomore setter Tori Rain led the Gophers with 15 assists, 15 digs and three blocks while sophomore outside hitter Megan Chalk had three kills and 18 digs.

Moravian returns to action on Friday, October 7 when the squad hosts Gwynedd-Mercy College in a non-conference match in Johnston Hall starting at 7:00 p.m.
