Moravian Drops Landmark Conference Matchup at Elizabethtown

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's basketball team saw its four-game winning streak snapped in a 94-72 loss at Elizabethtown College in Landmark Conference action Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened

  • The Blue Jays hit a three-pointer on the opening possession while sophomore forward Brielle Guarente connected on a jumper on the Hounds' first trip to the offensive end. The Greyhounds took a 10-9 lead on a three-pointer from senior guard Ashley Robinson at the 6:12 mark but an 8-0 run had Elizabethtown leading 17-10 with 2:52 left in the opening quarter. Senior forward Emily Markowski hit a lay-up to end the period as Moravian closed the deficit to 22-18 after 10 minutes of action
  • Elizabethtown began the second quarter with a 12-0 run that was stopped by a jumper by Robinson. The Blue Jays continued to the stretch the advantage, heading to the locker room with a 53-33 edge
  • Elizabethtown maintained its lead throughout the second half as the Greyhounds dropped their second Landmark Conference contest of the winter

Inside the Numbers

  • Moravian had four players in double figures with graduate student forward Tessa Zamolyi picking up her eighth double-double of the season with 18 points and 12 rebounds to go along with three assists and three steals
  • Robinson tossed in a career high 17 points with six boards to tie her career nest while Markowski had a career high 16 points to go with three assists and a pair of steals. Guarente added 10 points, three assists and twos teals in her first start of the season
  • Senior guard Morgan Amy contributed five assists, four pints and two steals while junior forward Sam Osorio had six rebounds, two points and a pair of assists
  • Junior guard Reganne Flannery and sophomore guard Mikayla Anderson each had two points while freshman guard Sarah Miniter added one point
  • The Hounds shot 30-for-72 from the floor, 5-for-14 beyond the three-point line and 7-for-15 at the foul line. The Blue and Grey did force Elizabethtown into 16 turnovers while making 14 miscues
