Moravian Women Set to Begin 2023 Landmark Conference Tournament at No. 3 Scranton on February 22

TOWSON, Md. --- The Moravian University women's basketball team has earned the fourth seed in the 2023 Landmark Conference Tournament and will travel to top seed and No. 3 The University of Scranton for a semifinal contest on Wednesday, February 22 at 7:00 p.m.

Tickets are $7 for adults and $4 for children. All youth under the age of 10 are admitted free as are all students, faculty and staff with a valid ID from any of the eight Landmark Conference institutions. College students without a Landmark school ID and seniors are $4. Tickets can be purchased at https://landmarkconference.org/sports/2022/4/25/championships-tickets.aspx?path=champs.

The Greyhounds are 15-10 overall this winter and finished the Landmark regular season with an 8-6 mark while the No. 3 Royals are 25-0 overall and were 14-0 in Landmark action. During the regular season, the Royals swept the regular season series, winning 79-56 at the John Long Center in Scranton on January 26 and 73-54 in Johnston Hall on February 15. This marks the tenth time the schools have met in the Landmark Conference Tournament and the eighth time at the John Long Center.

Wednesday's other semifinal game has second seed Elizabethtown College hosting third seed The Catholic University of America at 7:00 p.m. The top remaining seed will host the 2023 Landmark Conference title game on Saturday, February 25 with an automatic berth to the 2023 NCAA Division III Tournament on the line.

Hounds' Head Coach Mary Beth Spirk has the Blue and Grey returning to the postseason after a one-year hiatus, and for the 32nd time in her 36 seasons leading the Moravian program. The Greyhounds are making their 14th Landmark Conference Tournament appearance. Spirk has a career record of 640-326 and is looking to lead the Greyhounds to their fourth conference title that would go with a Landmark Championship in 2010 and Middle Atlantic Conference titles in 1991 and 1992. Spirk has led Moravian to the NCAA Division III Tournament nine times in her tenure including the NCAA Division III National Championship game in 1992 and a first round win at the University of New England in 2016, the program's last NCAA tournament appearance.

Graduate student forward Tessa Zamolyi, who was selected to the 2023 Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Organization Team of the Year and as one of three Peter Nevins' Players of the Year last Thursday, leads the Greyhounds on the boards at 11.2 rebounds per contest to go along with a team-high 15.7 points per game, 45 assists, 35 steals, 14 three-pointers and 20 blocked shots. Graduate student forward Kayla Yoegel, who became the program's 29th 1,000-point scorer on February 11, is contributing 13.1 points per game to go with 5.4 rebounds per outing, 31 assists, 25 steals, 21 three-pointers and 16 blocked shots while junior forward Sam Osorio is contributing 10.0 points and 7.6 rebounds per outing with 28 blocked shots, 37 steals and nine assists on the year.

Sophomore forward Brielle Guarente is netting 6.2 points per game with 86 rebounds, 53 assists, 28 steals and 12 blocked shots while senior Morgan Amy is also scoring 6.2 points per outing, and she has added 109 assists, 54 rebounds, 30 steals and 20 three-pointers this season. Senior forward Emily Markowski is recording 5.8 points per contest with 86 rebounds, 47 assists, 35 steals, 13 blocked shots and seven three-pointers while senior guard Ashley Robinson is netting 5.4 points per game with 55 rebounds, 18 assists, four blocked shots, six three-pointers and eight steals.

Freshman guard Jayda Cartagena has posted 43 points, 23 rebounds, 16 assists, two blocked shots and six steals in her debut season while junior guard Reganne Flannery has added 35 points, 22 rebounds, 19 assists, seven blocked shots and seven steals. Sophomore guard Mikayla Anderson has 24 points, 24 boards, 10 steals, six blocked shots and 10 assists while freshman guard Sarah Miniter has 16 points, four steals, three assists and 10 rebounds and freshman guard Nicole Rendina has added two points and six boards. Junior guard Vicky Donovan has missed the entire season due to injury.
