Moravian Women Win Two Events at Moravian Indoor Meet

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's track & field team won a pair of event titles at the Moravian University Indoor Meet at Lehigh University's Rauch Fieldhouse Saturday.

Event Winners

  • Freshman Margie Rayne won the shot put with a personal best toss of 11.48 meters (37-8)
  • Junior Lexi Groff captured the high jump on a judge's decision at an All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference qualifying height of 1.58 meters (5-2.25). Groff and Kassidy Murlyn from St. Joseph's University had matched each other jump for jump, and when both missed three attempts at 1.63 meters, the event judge had them continue competing at the height to see who would make it first, with Groff needing two additional attempts to clear the bar and take first 

Top 10 Finishes

  • Senior Crystal Robinson was the runner-up in the 200-meter dash in a time of 26.89 seconds while senior Helen Davis finished fifth in 27.20 seconds and sophomore Abby Giamoni took sixth in 27.24 seconds
  • Giamoni placed fifth in the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:01.87 while Robinson took eighth in 1:02.99
  • Davis was also sixth in the 60-meter dash finals in an AARTFC qualifying time of 8.05 seconds
  • Freshman Elena Bocchetti placed sixth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:30.37
  • Freshman Tara Smurla finished seventh in the 3,000-meter run at 10:55.83
  • The Greyhounds 4x400-meter B relay of Bocchetti, senior Rachel Byrne, sophomore Rylie Murphy and freshman Kate Rice took sixth in a time of 4:31.35 while the A relay team of sophomores Racquel Ramey, Zoey Bronson and Ashley Rodrigues and freshman Shai Knight was seventh in 4:31.65
  • Sophomore Arin Peykar took eighth in the shot put at a distance of 10.28 meters (33-8.75) while freshman Karalyn Vashey finished tenth at 9.79 meters (32-1.5)
  • Senior Elizabeth DeMassa was ninth in the long jump with a leap of 4.88 meters (16-0.25)
  • Freshman Ali Haefele finished tenth in the triple jump at a distance of 9.92 meters (32-6.5)
  • Sophomore Liz Miskovsky placed tenth in the 20-pound weight throw with a toss of 12.45 meters (40-10.25)
