Moravian Posts Four AARTFC Marks & Two Event Wins at John & Carol Covert Classic Hosted by Lehigh

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's track & field team posted four All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference qualifying marks and won two events in the John & Carol Covert Classic hosted by Lehigh University at the Goodman Campus on Friday and Saturday. 

Event Winners

  • Senior Crystal Robinson won the 200-meter dash in an AARTFC qualifying time of 25.41 seconds
  • The Hounds' 4x100-meter relay team of Robinson, seniors Rachel Byrne and Helen Davis and sophomore Abby Giamoni won in an AARTFC qualifying time of 48.02 seconds 

Top 10 Finishers

  • Giamoni took second in the 100-meter dash in 12.71 seconds while freshman Shai Knight finished ninth in 13.80 seconds and sophomore Racquel Ramey placed tenth in 14.09 seconds
  • Byrne, Ramey, Robinson and Giamoni combined to finish second in the 4x400-meter relay in an AARTFC qualifying time of 4:02.09. Moravian's "B" squad of Knight, sophomores Riley Murphy and Lexi Rushatz and freshman Kate Rice was fourth in the race in 4:29.14
  • Sophomore Abby McClaskey was the runner-up in the javelin on Friday with an AARTFC qualifying toss of 36.12 meters (118-6)
  • Davis was third in the 200-meter dash in 26.26 seconds while Knight took eighth at 27.85 seconds and Ramey finished tenth in 28.51 seconds
  • Sophomore Gillian Schonenberg finished fourth in the 5,000-meter run in 23:26.14
  • Sophomore Bella DeMassa placed fifth in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 17.06 seconds while senior Elizabeth DeMassa was sixth in 17.12 seconds, freshman Makenna Mersch took ninth in 18.43 seconds and sophomore Ashley Rodrigues finished tenth in 18.80 seconds
  • Elizabeth DeMassa was eighth in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:12.71 while Bella DeMassa was a spot back in 1:13.30
  • Murphy placed seventh in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:21.89
  • Freshman Ali Haefele took eighth in the triple jump with a mark of 10.37 meters (34-0.25)

AARTFC Qualifiers

  • Sophomore Caillie Fish was 14th in the discus with an AARTFC qualifying distance of 36.40 meters (119-5)
