TOWSON, Md. --- The Moravian University women’s outdoor track & field team had a total of ten student-athletes earn All-Conference accolades for their performances at the 2023 Landmark Conference Outdoor Championships last weekend hosted by the Greyhounds.

The Hounds were the runner-up in the meet with 190 points over the two days of competition. The Greyhounds 10 student-athletes garnered a total of 18 All-Conference honors. Leading the group was senior Crystal Robinson, who was selected as the Female Track Performer of the Year for the second straight outdoor season and third time including the indoor honor in 2022 after winning the 200-meter and 400-meters dash in 25.37 seconds and 57.06 seconds, respectively, and the 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter relays and placing fifth in the 100-meter dash.

“Crystal had as impressive a meet as anyone I can recall in my time here,” commented Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Jesse Baumann. “Just her 400m race alone and narrowly pulling off the win in a shoulder-to-shoulder finish the last 100m of that race was impressive enough. However, her bounce back minutes later to place 5th in a loaded 100m final or bookend her days with conference records and a 4x100 relay time that puts her in the top 16 in the country all highlighted a truly epic day for her. The past few weeks, Crystal has been as focused as I’ve seen her here and that continued on the track this weekend. She clearly wanted to show she was one of the best athletes in the conference on her home track, and the quality of her five finals in one afternoon showed she was deserving of this award.”

The women had five other student-athletes garner First Team accolades with senior Helen Davis winning the 100-meter dash for the second consecutive year in 12.27 seconds and junior Lexi Groff capturing the high jump for the third straight outdoor championship at a meet record height of 1.64 meters (5-4.5). Davis and Robinson combined with senior Rachel Byrne and sophomore Abby Giamoni to win the 4x100-meter relay in a meet record time of 47.36 seconds while the trio of Byrne, Robinson and Giamoni teamed with sophomore Racquel Ramey to win the 4x400-meter relay in a meet record time of 3:58.29.

The team also had six additional Second Team selections with Giamoni as the runner-up in the 200-meter dash, senior Delaney Wiseman taking second in the javelin, sophomore Amber Poniktera finishing second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, freshman Tara Smurla placing second in the 10,000-meter run and freshman Margie Rayne as the runner-up in both the discus and hammer throw.
