Greyhounds Win Three Events in Coach Pollard Invitational on Senior Day

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's track & field squad won three events and hit eight All-Atlantic Regional Track & Field Conference qualifying marks at the Coach Pollard Invitational Friday and Saturday at Timothy Breidegam Track on Senior Day. 

Event Winners

  • Freshman Tara Smurla started off the meet Friday evening with a first place finish in the 10,000-meter run in an AARTFC qualifying time of 39:34.39
  • Moravian's 4x100-meter relay squad of seniors Rachel Byrne, Helen Davis and Crystal Robinson and sophomore Abby Giamoni took first in an AARTFC qualifying time of 47.80 seconds
  • Freshman Margie Rayne won the discus with a toss of 33.30 meters (109-3)

Top 10 Finishers

  • Davis was the runner-up in the 100-meter dash in a school record and AARTFC qualifying time of 12.12 seconds while Robinson was third in an AARTFC qualifying time of 12.19 seconds
  • Giamoni took second in the 400-meter dash in an AARTFC qualifying time of 58.98 seconds while Byrne placed third in an AARTFC qualifying time of 59.34 seconds
  • Sophomore Rachael Goodman was the runner-up in the 10,000-meter run with an AARTFC qualifying time of 40:29.61 while sophomore Ally Meeks was fourth in 41:08.31, sophomore Amber Poniktera placed fifth in 41:08.44, freshman Tori Champagne took sixth at 41:12.99 and Peyton Herbst placed seventh at 44:49.30
  • Sophomore Rylie Murphy finished fourth in the 800-meter run at time of 2:23.61
  • Freshman Grace Tirabassi placed fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 12:47.93 while sophomore Hannah Kolonoski was fifth in 12:49.79
  • Freshman Kate Rice took eighth in the 1,500-meter run in 5:09.21 while sophomore Lexi Rushatz placed tenth at 5:16.46
  • Junior Lexi Groff tied for fourth in the high jump at a height of 1.55 meters (5-1) while freshman Ali Haefele was tied for ninth at 1.40 meters (4-7)
  • Haefele also finished fourth in the triple jump at 10.45 meters (34-3.5)
  • Sophomore Mikayla Woodring placed fifth in the shot put on Friday at a distance of 10.89 meters (35-8.75) while Rayne was sixth at 10.84 meters (35-6.75) and sophomore Caillie Fish finished ninth at 10.46 meters (34-4)
  • Freshman Karalyn Vashey took fourth in the discus with a toss of 31.67 meters (103-11) while freshman Heather Adams was tenth at 27.88 meters (91-5)
  • Fish placed seventh in the hammer throw with a toss of 39.67 meters (130-2) Friday evening while sophomore Liz Miskovsky took tenth at 37.71 meters (123-8)
  • Sophomore Abby McClaskey finished fourth in the javelin with an AARTFC qualifying toss of 35.31 meters (115-10) while senior Delaney Wiseman was sixth at 34.45 meters (113-0)
  • Prior to action beginning on Saturday, the Greyhounds honored the senior class of Byrne, Davis, Herbst, Robinson, Wiseman, Elizabeth DeMassa, Haylee Saylor and Maddie Wickel
  • The 200-meter dash and 4x400-meter relays were not competed due to storms moving into the area later in the day
