Moravian Sets Four PRs & One School & Conference Record at David Hemery Valentine Invitational at Boston University

BOSTON, Mass. --- The Moravian University women's track & field team set four personal best times, one school and one Landmark Conference record at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University Friday.

Moravian Results

  • Freshman Tara Smurla started the day with a PR and All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference qualifying time of 18:30.42 in the 5,000-meter run during the first heat of the day as Smurla took nearly 19 full seconds off her previous best time
  • Senior Rachel Byrne recorded a PR time of 1:00.91 in the 400-meter dash, taking a second and a half off her previous career best while freshman Elena Bocchetti also posted a PR time of 1:00.96, which is two seconds faster than her previous best
  • Senior Crystal Robinson ran an AARTFC qualifying time of 26.05 seconds in the 200-meter dash while sophomore Abby Giamoni had a PR and AARTFC qualifying mark of 26.14 seconds
  • The Greyhounds finished off the meet with the quartet of Byrne, Bocchetti, Robinson and Giamoni running an AARTFC qualifying, Landmark Conference record and school record time of 3:59.02 in the 4x400-meter relay. They are the first quartet so go under four minutes in the event and took 3.4 seconds off of the previous program best
