Carmon & Sergas Named Landmark Conference Softball Pitcher & Player of the Week

MADISON, N.J. --- Senior pitcher Jenna Carmon of the Moravian College softball team has been named the Landmark Conference Pitcher of the Week while sophomore outfielder Miranda Sergas earned Player of the Week honors  for their performances last week.

Carmon helped #18 Moravian open its 2012 season with an 11-4 win over Misericordia University at the National Training Center in Clermont, Florida.  Carmon tossed two innings of scoreless relief to finish off the game, and she struck out three batters.  At the plate, Carmon was one-for-four with an inside the park home run to lead off the bottom of the second inning giving Moravian the lead for good.  She scored two runs in the game and added eight putouts and an assist while playing at first base for the first five innings of the game.

Sergas, who started the game in right field, was two-for-two in the game with three RBIs and a run scored.

Moravian, which is dropped two games early Monday to fall to 1-2 on the year, will return to action on Tuesday, March 6 with two more games at the National Training Center, taking on Berry (Ga.) College at 9:00 a.m. and Misericordia at 11:30 a.m.
