Softball Travels to Susquehanna for First Landmark Game of the Spring

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Moravian College (5-5) softball team will travel to Landmark Conference foe Susquehanna University (6-4) this weekend to open up the Landmark Conference schedule. The Greyhounds will play a doubleheader versus the Crusaders on Saturday, March 17th. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.

Head-to-Head: Moravian is 33-9 against Susquehanna, including a doubleheader sweep last season.

Home Away From Home: The Greyhounds have no problem winning away games as they are 118-24 since 2002 while playing on the road.

Player of the Week: Junior infielder Shannen Mohr was named Landmark Conference Softball Player of the Week for this week. Last week she batted .381 with three doubles, a triple and a home run. Mohr also had nine RBIs and four runs scored.

One-Two Punch: Senior pitcher Jenna Carmon and sophomore pitcher Elizabeth Tillou have earned all five Moravian's victories. They have a combined 0.33 ERA in 48.2 innings pitched including 21 strikeouts and seven walks. They also have four complete games and three shutouts between the two of them.

Rookie Standout: Freshman outfielder Dior George leads the Greyhounds with five stolen bases and eight runs scored. She also has the second best batting average on the squad at .324 to go with her three RBIs.

Scouting Susquehanna: The Crusaders have five players hitting above .345, topped by senior outfielder Lisa Finizio, who is hitting .500 (13-for-26) with seven runs scored, four RBIs and four stolen bases. Freshman outfielder Brianna Murphy is hitting .381 while junior outfielder Kathryn Gilbert has a .367 batting average to go with one home run and seven RBIs. Sophomore catcher Brittany Devlin leads the team with eight RBIs to go with her .357 batting average while senior outfielder Courtney Miller has a .348 average with seven runs scored.

Landmark Conference: Without a Landmark Conference game being played yet Scranton leads the conference with a 5-1 record. Susquehanna sits in second at 6-4 while Catholic is third at 7-5. Drew sits in fourth at 4-3 while Juniata and Moravian are tied for fifth at 5-5. USMMA has yet to play a game.

Coming up Next: The Greyhounds travel to Elizabethtown on Tuesday, March 20th for a non-conference game. The doubleheader is scheduled to start 3 p.m.
