#19 Moravian Shuts Out Emerson (Mass.), 8-0

CLERMONT, Fla. --- The 19th-ranked Moravian College softball team posted its first shutout of the season, and had home runs from junior Shannen Mohr and freshman Jenn Dalickas to post an 8-0 victory over Emerson (Mass.) College Wednesday night at the National Training Center.

The game was scoreless until the top of the fourth inning when the Greyhounds, now 3-4 this season, scored five times.  Sophomore catcher Taylor Mihalik, Dalickas and junior outfielder Brook Kowal each hit singles to load the bases with one out in the inning.  After the second out of the inning, senior Jenna Carmon came in to pinch hit and delivered a three-RBI triple down the left field line to empty the bases.  Mohr then entered the game and connected on a two-run homer to left-center field for her first home run of the season.

Moravian added three more runs in the top of the seventh inning.  Freshman outfielder Dior George led off with a single, and she scored when Mihalik reached on a two-out error.  Dalickas followed with her first collegiate homer to center field.

The Greyhounds had an 11-4 edge in hits in the game with George, Dalickas and Mihalik each going two-for-four.  Sophomore outfielder Brittany Rochford was two-for-three for Emerson.

Sophomore Elizabeth Tillou improved to 2-0 in the circle for Moravian after allowing just four hits and a walk while striking out five batters in the shutout.  For the Lions, sophomore Alexandra Magistro gave up eight runs, five earned, on 11 hits and a walk to go with six strikeouts.

Moravian will return to action at the National Training Center for a single games versus Carroll (Wisc.) University on Thursday, March 8 at 9:00 a.m.
