Nine Softball Players Earn Landmark All-Conference; Carmon Named Pitcher of the Year & George Honored as Rookie of the Year

MADISON, N.J. --- Nine members of the Moravian College softball team have been named to the 2012 Landmark All-Conference Teams including seven First Team selections while senior pitcher Jenna Carmon (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central HS) earned Pitcher of the Year honors for the third time in her career and freshman outfielder Dior George (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty HS) was named the Rookie of the Year by the conference office Monday.

Carmon earned First Team as the starting pitcher/utility player while George was a First Team outfielder along with sophomore Miranda Sergas (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn HS).  Moravian's other First Team selections were sophomore catcher Cassie Ernst (Annville, Pa./Annville-Cleona HS), junior first baseman Amanda Dizinno (Budd Lake, N.J./Mount Olive HS), junior third baseman Shannen Mohr (Slatington, Pa./Parkland HS) and freshman designated player Jenn Dalickas (Mertztown, Pa./Brandywine Heights HS).  Earning spots on the All-Conference Second Team were sophomore outfielder Taylor Mihalik (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty HS), the 2011 Landmark Rookie of the Year, and junior pitcher Alyssa Fegely (Mertztown, Pa./Brandywine Heights HS).

Carmon, who was the Landmark Conference Pitcher of the Year in 2009 and 2010 and a four-time All-Conference selection as a pitcher, has a 19-5 record this season with one save, eight shutouts, a 1.38 ERA, 28 walks and 86 strikeouts in 142.1 innings in the circle.  At the plate, Carmon is hitting .371 (39-for-105) to go with 34 runs, eight doubles, a triple and homer, 24 RBIs and eight sacrifice bunts.  Carmon's name it all over the Moravian record books for her career numbers.  In the circle, she had a 72-21 record with seven saves, 25 shutouts, a 1.35 ERA, 89 walks and 326 strikeouts in 606.2 innings pitched.  At the plate, Carmon is hitting .332 (154-for-464) in her career with 112 runs scored, 32 doubles, three triples, seven home runs, 96 RBIs, 40 walks, eight stolen bases and 31 sacrifice hits.  She also has 164 putouts and 230 assists in her career to go with a .975 fielding percentage.

George has a team leading .404 average (55-for-136) in her debut season to go with team highs of 42 runs scored, 15 doubles, 17 walks and 22 stolen bases.  George has also added 19 RBIs, a homer and a .471 on-base percentage.

Ernst, who was on the All-Conference Second Team last season, is hitting .396 (42-for-106), and she leads Moravian with a .511 on-base percentage after drawing ten walks and being hit by a pitch 15 times.  Ernst has added 35 runs scored, 31 RBIs, seven doubles, six homers and five sacrifice bunts.  Behind the plate, Ernst has thrown out three of nine base runners and recorded 106 putouts and 11 assists.

Dalickas had a .370 batting average (40-for-108) to go with team highs of 37 RBIs and nine home runs, part of Moravian's school record 27 homers this season.  Dalickas, who has played in right field, shortstop, first base and as the designated player, has added 20 runs scored, 12 doubles, a triple and nine walks to go with a team high .750 slugging percentage.

Dizinno, who made the Landmark All-Conference First Team as a freshman in 2010, it batting .366 (26-for-71) with 12 runs, seven doubles, a homer and 18 RBIs this spring.  Dizinno also leads Moravian with 195 putouts.

Mohr, who was the 2011 Landmark Conference Co-Player of the Year and a member of the All-Conference First Team last season, is hitting .343 (36-for-105) with 22 runs, nine doubles, a triple, a home run, 12 walks, eight sacrifice hits and 26 RBIs this spring.  Mohr also has 56 putouts and 62 assists in the field for the Greyhounds.

Sergas, who makes the Landmark All-Conference First Team for the second consecutive year, has a .317 average (33-for-104) with 25 runs, seven doubles, a triple, 13 walks, a team high nine sacrifice bunts and 20 RBIs this spring.

Mihalik, a member of the All-Conference First Team a season ago, is hitting .333 (33-for-99) with 26 runs scored, five doubles, a team high three triples, five homers, six sacrifice bunts and 25 RBIs.  Mihalik has seen action in the outfield as well as catcher and designated player this season.

Fegely has a 5-1 record this season with two shouts, a no-hitter, a 2.21 ERA, 22 walks and 44 strikeouts in 57 innings pitched.  At the plate, Fegely is hitting .350 (14-for-40) with eight runs, three doubles, two homers and nine RBIs.

The Greyhounds have received the second seed in the Union, N.J. Regional for the 2012 NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament and begin action on Thursday, May 10 versus seventh seed Centenary (N.J.) College at 4:00 p.m. on the campus of Kean University.  Moravian enters the NCAA Tournament with a 32-9 overall record after its fifth straight Landmark Conference title and 13th consecutive conference championship.
