INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Four Moravian College softball players are ranked in the latest NCAA Division III statistics released Tuesday.
Sophomore catcher Cassie Ernst (Annville, Pa./Annville-Cleona HS) is getting hit by a pitch 0.37 times per game, which ranks her ninth in the country. Ernst has been hit by a pitch seven times in 21 games this spring. On the season, Ernst is batting .421 (24-for-57) with 17 runs scored, three home runs and 16 RBIs.
Freshman outfielder Dior George (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty HS) is tied for 47th in the nation in stolen bases with an average of 0.6 per contest. George is a perfect 13-for-13 on stolen base attempts for the Greyhounds this spring. She has a .384 average (28-for-73) with 21 runs scored, 14 RBIs and eight doubles in her first collegiate season.
Junior pitcher Alyssa Fegely (Mertztown, Pa./Brandywine Heights HS) and sophomore pitcher Elizabeth Tillou (Hackettstown, N.J./Hackettstown HS) are tied for 92nd in the nation with two shutouts this spring. Fegely, this week's Landmark Conference Pitcher of the Week, is 3-1 on the season with a no-hitter, a 2.46 ERA, ten walks allowed and 25 strikeouts in 31.1 innings with go with a .215 opponents' batting average. Tillou currently has a 1.35 ERA and a 4-1 record. In 31 innings pitched, she has struck out 14 while only walking four, and holding her opponents to a .236 batting average.
As a team, Moravian is tied for 22nd in the country in home runs per game at 0.75. The Greyhounds have hit 17 home runs this spring through 22 games including a school record six homers in an 11-0 win over Ursinus College on March 31.
Moravian, which is 15-7 overall this season, returns to action on Thursday, April 5 as they host Kean University for a non-conference contest at Blue & Grey Field in Bethlehem. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
