BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University softball squad split a Landmark Conference doubleheader with visiting Juniata College at Blue & Grey Field Wednesday, winning the opener 5-0 before falling 4-3 in the nightcap as the Greyhounds moved closer to a postseason berth with the split.

How It Happened – Game #1

  • The Hounds scored all five runs in the first game in the bottom of the sixth inning. Sophomore pitcher Madi Cunningham gave herself enough offense for the win as she connected on a solo home run to start the frame. It was Cunningham's first home run of the season and sixth of her career. Sophomore third baseman Holly Walter followed the homer with a triple while junior catcher Mya Zettlemoyer reached on catcher's interference and sophomore first baseman Lindsey Gawrys drew a walk to load the bases. After an out, sophomore left fielder Sage Snyder connected on a grand slam to left center field, her second homer of the spring
  • Cunningham improved to 12-5 in the circle as she scattered four hits in the shutout and struck out one batter
  • The contest started nearly an hour and 40 minutes late due to a rain delay before the teams began infield/outfield

How It Happened – Game #2

  • Moravian took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning in game two. Zettlemoyer and Gawrys both had one-out singles before freshman catcher Marcie Silberman hit an RBI single to bring in Zettlemoyer with the opening run of the contest. Snyder added an RBI single that scored Gawrys
  • Juniata knotted the score with a pair of runs in the top of the third inning, and the Eagles took a 4-2 advantage with two more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning
  • The Hounds closed the game to 4-3 with a run in the fifth frame. Zettlemoyer had a one-out single before a single from Silberman moved Zettlemoyer to third. Snyder ripped an RBI single through the left side to score Zettlemoyer. Later in the inning, junior designated player Emily Silberman connected on a single to become the 52nd player in program history to reach 100 career hits
  • Freshman Sarah DeStefano fell to 12-2 in the circle this season as she struck out four batters in the complete game for the Blue & Grey
