Trio of Hounds Selected to NFCA Division III All-Region V Teams

LOUISVILLE, Ky. --- Moravian University sophomore pitcher Madi Cunningham has been selected to the 2023 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III All-Region V First Team while freshman pitcher/outfielder Sarah DeStefano and freshman catcher Marcie Silberman spots on the All-Region Second Team.

"Another great honor for Madi, Sarah, and Marcie (Scoot)," exclaimed first-year Head Coach Josh Baltz. "All three are very hardworking softball players, that are self-driven to be the best player they can be. It is very rewarding to see their hard work result in team success and some individual honors!"

All-Region players are nominated and selected by NFCA member coaches in each of the ten Division III regions. All the All-Region choices are eligible for selection to the NFCA All-America team, which will be announced on May 31.

The Greyhounds are 34-8 on the season and set to play in the 2023 NCAA Division III Medford (Mass.) Regional Championship on Saturday, May 20 versus Tufts University at 12:00 p.m. The Landmark Conference had a total of seven All-Region V honorees.

Cunningham, who was on the 2022 NFCA All-Region V Second Team, was named to the 2023 Landmark All-Conference First Team this spring after being the 2022 Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year and a member of the All-Conference First Team. Cunnngham is 16-5 in the circle to go with five shutouts, 90 strikeouts and a 2.02 ERA in 145.1 innings, and she has recorded 11 hits, 13 runs, a double, a homer and four RBIs at the plate. In her career, Cunningham is 32-6 in the circle to go with one save, 173 strikeouts and a 2.09 ERA in 264 innings of action, and she also has 26 hits, 23 runs, three doubles, six homers and 17 RBIs in two seasons.

DeStefano, who was honored as the 2023 Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year and on the All-Conference Second Team as a pitcher, is 15-2 in the circle with 78 strikeouts, four shutouts and a 1.81 ERA in 112.1 innings of action, and DeStefano starts in right field when not in the circle. At the plate, she has recorded a .357 average to go along with 41 hits, 20 runs, ten stolen bases, three doubles and 18 RBIs.

Silberman, who was named to the 2023 Landmark All-Conference First Team, has a .375 batting average in her debut season to go with 33 hits, 16 runs, six doubles, a triple, six homers and 28 RBIs. Silberman also has 120 putouts and 10 assists behind the plate.
