Four Moravian Student-Athletes Selected to College Sports Communicators Softball Academic All-District

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian University junior Emily Silberman and sophomores Madi Cunningham, Lindsey Gawrys and Sage Snyder have been honored on the 2023 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Softball Team for NCAA Division III schools.

To be eligible for CSC Academic All-America® honors, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.50 grade-point average, be a sophomore, junior or senior and be a starter or significant reserve. Moravian has had 56 Greyhounds named CSC Academic All-Americans®.

By making the All-District Team, the quartet is now forwarded onto the national ballot to try for CSC Academic All-America® accolades, which will be announced Tuesday, June 6.

The group has helped Moravian to a 32-8 record in 2022-23 to go with a 10-2 mark in Landmark Conference action as the Greyhounds earned the top seed in the 2023 Landmark Conference Tournament. Moravian captured its tenth Landmark Conference title and will be competing in the NCAA Division III Tournament beginning on Thursday, May 18 in Medford, Massachusetts versus Cabrini University.

Silberman, a psychology major and Spanish minor with a 3.58 grade-point average, was selected the 2023 Landmark All-Conference First Team as a designated player, and she was on the Landmark All-Conference Second Team in 2021 and 2022. Silberman is hitting .339 this spring with 37 hits, four doubles, four runs, four homers and 33 RBIs. In her career, Silberman has a .388 average to go along with 104 hits, 91 RBIs, 22 runs, 16 home runs and six doubles. She's been a member of the Moravian Dean's Honors List five times, Moravian's Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society and a two-time member of the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll.

Cunningham, an economics and finance major with a minor in art and a 3.98 grade-point average, earned a spot on the Landmark All-Conference First Team in 2023, and she was also selected as the Landmark Conference Tournament Most Outstanding Player this spring. Cunningham was the 2022 Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year and a member of the All-Conference First Team last spring, and she is 15-5 in the circle to go with five shutouts, 89 strikeouts and a 1.97 ERA in 138.1 innings, and she has recorded 11 hits, 13 runs, a double, a homer and four RBIs at the plate. Cunningham is 31-6 in the circle in her career to go with one save, 172 strikeouts and a 2.07 ERA in 257 innings of action, and she also has 25 hits, 24 runs, three doubles, six homers and 17 RBIs in two seasons. Cunningham been a member of the Moravian Dean's Honors List four times, and she will be a member of the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll this spring.

Gawrys, a health sciences major with a minor in psychology and a 3.75 grade-point average, was named to the 2022 National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region 5 First Team. Gawrys has posted a .304 average this season with 34 hits, 27 runs, five doubles, two triples and 23 RBIs, and she has a .368 career batting average to go with 81 hits, 55 runs, 53 RBIs, 14 doubles, three triples and six homers. Gawrys been a member of the Moravian Dean's Honors List three times, and she will be a member of the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll this spring.

Snyder, a health sciences major with a 3.95 grade-point average, earned a spot on the 2023 Landmark All-Conference First Team. Snyder has a .375 average this spring to go with 39 hits, 27 runs, five doubles, two triples, two homers, 76 walks, 15 stolen bases and 22 RBIs. Snyder has posted 42 hits, 34 runs, five doubles, two triples, two home runs, 23 RBIs, 20 walks, 15 stolen bases and a .365 average in two seasons. Snyder been a member of the Moravian Dean's Honors List four times, and she will be a member of the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll this spring.
