BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Moravian College softball team announced its schedule over the weekend. The Greyhounds hope to improve off their 35-11 record from last spring when they won their fifth straight Landmark Conference Championship while falling in the NCAA Division III Regional Championships.

Moravian was nationally-ranked No. 17 in the 2013 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Preseason Top 25 Poll.

The Greyhounds are led by Head Coach John Byrne, who has a 616-193 overall record in 20 seasons. Coach Byrne returns nine starters and 15 letter-winners from last year.

The Greyhounds open their season with an eight-day trip (March 2 – 9) to the National Training Center in Clermont, Florida. Moravian will have some tough competition in Florida as they take on Emerson (Mass.) College, St. Vincent College, Marywood University, John Carroll University, Lebanon Valley, Misericorida University, Case Western Reserve University and Coe (Iowa) College. Those teams had a combined record of 225-119 (.654) in 2012.

After that, Moravian returns to Bethlehem for its home opener against Landmark Conference foe Susquehanna University, who challenge the Greyhounds last year for the Landmark Championship, on March 16th.

The Greyhounds open up the month of April against a tough non-conference opponent in Centenary (N.J.) College, who went 27-16 last spring, on April 2nd. Then they travel to Kean University two days later for another rugged doubleheader.

Moravian will play host to rival Muhlenberg College on April 11th in a Matte Award battle before hosting The University of Scranton two days later on the 13th. The Royals went 26-10 in 2012.

The Greyhounds will play their final eight games on the road that include a doubleheader against Ramapo College of New Jersey on April 18th. They will finish the 2013 regular season at The Catholic University of America on April 27th.

The Landmark Conference Championship Tournament is set for May 3rd – 4th at the highest seed.
