7 Softball Players Earn Landmark All-Conference Honors; Fegely Named Co-Pitcher of the Year

TOWSON, Md. --- Seven members of the Moravian College softball team have been named to the 2013 Landmark All-Conference Teams including six First Team selections while senior pitcher Alyssa Fegely earned Co-Pitcher of the Year honors.

Fegely earned First Team as a pitcher as well.  Moravian's other First Team selections were junior catcher Cassie Ernst, senior first baseman Amanda Dizinno, sophomore outfielder Dior George, sophomore designated player Jenn Dalickas and junior Miranda Sergas. Earning a spot on the All-Conference Second Team was sophomore utility player Lizzie Mack.

Fegely, who was on the All-Conference Second Team a year ago, had an 11-3 record this season with seven shutouts, a no-hitter in her season opener, a 1.92 ERA, 30 walks and 77 strikeouts in 87.2 innings pitched. At the plate, Fegely had a .311 average with 19 hits, ten runs, four doubles, a home run and 15 RBI. She also had seven putouts and 15 assists in the field in 22 fielding chances.

Ernst, who was on the All-Conference First Team last season and the Second Team in 2011, hit .379 this spring with 39 hits, 32 runs, ten doubles, two triples, two home runs and a .573 slugging percentage. Ersnt led the Greyhounds with 45 RBI, 15 walks, a .548 on-base percentage and an NCAA Division III record 26 hit by pitch. Early in the season, Ernst reached the 100-career hit milestone for Moravian. Behind the plate, Ernst threw out four of 22 base runners and recorded 112 putouts and 13 assists in 125 chances.

Dizinno, who made the Landmark All-Conference First Team a year ago and as a freshman in 2010, had a .317 average in her finals season with 32 hits, 15 runs, three doubles, a triple, a homer and 20 RBI. Dizinno led the Greyhounds with 228 putouts to go with six assists in 234 chances in the field, and she completed her career with a school record 1,091 putouts.

George, who was the 2012 Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year and a First Team All-Conference selection, set the school record with 56 runs scored this season, and she became the fourth sophomore in school history to reach 100 career hits. George had a .406 average this spring with 58 hits, 15 doubles, two triples, two home runs, a .580 slugging percentage, nine stole bases and 21 RBI. In the field, George had 54 putouts and one assist in 56 chances from her center field position.

Dalickas, a member of the All-Conference First Team last spring, led Moravian with a .444 average with 56 hits, 30 runs, 15 doubles, two triples, a team high four home runs, a team leading .690 slugging percentage and 35 RBI. Dalickas heads into her junior season just two hits shy of 100 for her career. Dalcickas had 14 putouts and two assists in the field this year while splitting time as a designated player and outfielder.

Sergas, who made the Landmark All-Conference First Team for the third consecutive year, had a .381 batting average with 43 hits, 28 runs, nine doubles, a triple, 11 walks, a team high 18 sacrifice hits and 20 RBI this spring. Sergas also reached 100 career hits this spring, becoming the 31st player in school history to do so. Sergas had 37 putouts and two assists in 40 chances while playing both left and right field this season.

Mack saw action at first base, shortstop, pitcher and designated player this spring. She had a .368 batting average with 25 hits, 16 run, six doubles, a triple, a homer and 15 RBI. In the circle, Mack had a 4-1 mark with one shutout, 19 walks and 18 strikeouts in 32.1 innings of action. She also had 25 putouts and 29 assists in 56 chances in the field.

The Greyhounds participated in the postseason for the 19th straight year as the second seed in the 2013 Landmark Conference Tournament last weekend. Moravian finished the year with a 30-12 record, the 13th consecutive season the program has posted at least 30 wins.
