CLERMONT, Fla. --- The 19th-ranked Moravian College softball team opened its third day at the National Training Center Tuesday morning with an 11-0, five-inning win over Marywood University as the Greyhounds improved to 5-0 on the year.

Moravian jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on Marywood. Sophomore outfielder Dior George led off the game with a single, and she scored on an RBI double off the bat of junior catcher Cassie Ernst. After a single by senior third baseman Shannen Mohr, sophomore designated player Jenn Dalickas connected on an RBI single to score Ernst.

The Greyhounds pushed their lead to 6-0 with four runs in the top half of the second. Senior shortstop Brook Kowal and George each singled with one out before junior outfielder Miranda Sergas had her second sacrifice bunt of the game. Ernst followed with a two-RBI single to score Kowal and George, and senior pitcher Alyssa Fegely pushed Ernst across the plate with an RBI single. Fegely scored the final run of the inning on an RBI single by Mohr.

Moravian added four runs in the top of the fourth to extend the lead to 10-0. Ernst was hit by a pitch with two outs, and she scored on an error in the Marywood outfield on a ball hit by junior third baseman Leann Ventriglia. Dalickas followed the error with her second home run of the season, a three-run shot that also scored Fegely and Ventriglia.

The Greyhound pushed one more run home in the fifth before the NCAA eight-run rule took effect. Junior Elizabeth Tillou drew a two-out, walk as a pinch hitter for Sergas. Sergas came back in to run and scored on an RBI triple from freshman pinch hitter Carsin Conner.

Moravian had a 12-3 advantage in hits in the game with George going three-for-three. Ernst and Mohr were both two-for-two with Ernst adding three RBIs and three runs scored while Dalickas was two-for-three with four RBIs for the Greyhounds.

Fegely tossed her second shutout of the season in the circle to improve to 2-0. She allowed just three hits and a walk while striking out five batters. Katherine King took the loss for Marywood after giving up six runs on nine hits with one strikeout in three innings of action.

Moravian would head right back to the field to battle John Carroll (Ohio) University in its second game of the day.
