LOUISVILLE, Ky. --- The Moravian College softball team moved up five places to 14th in the second regular season 2013 National Fastpitch Coaches Association NCAA Division III Top 25 Poll released Wednesday.
Moravian has 79 points in the poll, and the Greyhounds were 19th in the first regular season poll last week after being 17th in the preseason poll in late January. Moravian is one of three teams from the East Region ranked in the Top 25.
Montclair State University received seven first-place votes and holds down the top spot with 199 points while Luther (Iowa) College is second with 188 points. The University of Texas-Tyler is ranked third with 179 points followed by Emory (Ga.) University with 174 points and the other first-place vote. Tufts (Mass.) University holds down the fifth spot in the poll with 166 points. .
Moravian, under the direction of 20th-year head coach John Byrne, has started the 2013 campaign with a 5-1 record at the National Training Center in Clermont, Florida. The Greyhounds will return to action on Thursday, March 7th with a pair of games versus Lebanon Valley College at 1:00 p.m. and Misericordia University at 5:00 p.m.
