Eight Moravian Softball Players Among National Leaders

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- Eight members of the Moravian College softball team are ranked nationally in the second NCAA Division III statistics release of the 2013 season, and the team is ranked in seven statistical categories as well.

Junior catcher Cassie Ernst  is ranked in four categories. Ernst is fourth in the nation in hit by pitch per game at 0.9, tied for 30th in triples with two, tied for 39th in triples per game at 0.2 and tied for 66th in runs per game at 1.1.

Sophomore outfielder Dior George is tied for sixth in the country in runs per game at 1.5, and she is tied for 30th with two triples and tied for 39th at 0.2 triples per game.

Junior outfielder Miranda Sergas is third in the country in sacrifice hits per game at 0.7 while sophomore outfielder/designated player Jenn Dalickas is tied for 90th in the country with two home runs. Senior first baseman Amanda Dizinno is tied for 68th in the country in hit by pitch per game at 0.25.

Senior pitcher Alyssa Fegely is tied for ninth in shutouts with three, and she is tied for 87th with four victories while sophomore pitcher/first baseman Lizzie Mack and freshman pitcher Lindsay Sullivan are tied for 88th with one shutout.

As a team, the Greyhounds are ninth in the nation in triples per game at 0.9, 22nd in slugging percentage at .536, 14th in fielding percentage at .977, 24th in batting average at .369, tied for 19th in doubles per game at 2.2, 39th in scoring at 7.3 runs per contest and tied for 43rd in winning percentage at .800 after the squad posted an 8-2 record at the National Training Center in Clermont, Florida to begin the season.

Moravian, currently ranked 20th in the nation in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Top 25 Poll, is slated to return to action on Saturday, March 23rd when the Greyhounds travel to Drew University for a doubleheader to open the Landmark Conference season beginning at 1:00 p.m. in Madison, New Jersey.
