Dalickas, George & Mack Named to NFCA All-East Region Squads

LOUISVILLE, Ky. --- Sophomore outfielder Jenn Dalickas of the Moravian College softball team has been named to the 2013 Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-East Region First Team announced Friday by the NFCA, and a total of three Greyhounds earned All-Region honors. 

Dalickas, who earned First Team honors for the second straight season, is now eligible for Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-America honors which will be announced on Thursday, May 16 at the championship banquet in Eau Claire, Wisconsin prior to the start of the 2013 NCAA Division III World Series. Sophomore outfielder Dior George was named to the All-East Region Second Team for a second consecutive years while sophomore utility player Lizzie Mack also made the Second Team. A total of six players from the Landmark Conference earned All-Region accolades with Dalickas as the only First Team honoree.

The Greyhounds under the direction of 20-year head coach John Byrne, who as a career mark of 646-205, posted a 30-12 overall record this spring, the 20th consecutive season that Moravian has won at least 23 games, and a 7-3 mark in Landmark Conference regular season action.  The Greyhounds, which have won over 30 games 14 times under Byrne including the last 13 years, had a string of 13 straight conference titles stopped this spring as the program made its 19th consecutive appearance in the postseason.

Dalickas, who is also a two-time member of the Landmark All-Conference First Team, led Moravian with a .444 average with 56 hits, 30 runs, 15 doubles, two triples, a team high four home runs, a team leading .690 slugging percentage and 35 RBI. Dalickas heads into her junior season just two hits shy of 100 for her career. Dalcickas had 14 putouts and two assists in the field this year while splitting time as a designated player and outfielder.

George, who was a First Team All-Conference selection the past two seasons and the 2012 Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year, set the school record with 56 runs scored this season, and she became the fourth sophomore in school history to reach 100 career hits. George had a .406 average this spring with 58 hits, 15 doubles, two triples, two home runs, a .580 slugging percentage, nine stole bases and 21 RBI. In the field, George had 54 putouts and one assist in 56 chances from her center field position.

Mack, who was also a member of the Landmark All-Conference Second Team, saw action at first base, shortstop, pitcher and designated player this spring. She had a .368 batting average with 25 hits, 16 run, six doubles, a triple, a homer and 15 RBI. In the circle, Mack had a 4-1 mark with one shutout, 19 walks and 18 strikeouts in 32.1 innings of action. She also had 25 putouts and 29 assists in 56 chances in the field.
