TOWSON, Md. – The Moravian College softball team was selected to finish first in the 2013 Landmark Conference Preseason Poll. The Greyhounds received the most first place votes (five). The poll is voted on by the head coaches of the conference.
Moravian finished 35-11 overall and 8-2 in the conference last season while capturing its 13th straight conference championship.
The Greyhounds led by 20th year head coach John Byrne (616-193) returns 15 letter-winners and nine starts from last spring.
Moravian led the way in the poll with 50 points and five first place votes. Susquehanna University followed with 38 points and one first place vote while The Catholic University of America is third with 29 points. Drew University and The University of Scranton are tied for fourth with 20 points while Juniata College is last with 17 points.
The Greyhounds season opener is Sunday, March 3rd as they take on Emerson (Mass.) College at the National Training Center in Clermont, Florida. First pitch is set for 11 a.m.
