#19 Moravian tops Thiel, 19-1, at National Training Center

CLERMONT, Fla. --- The 19th–ranked Moravian College opened its second day at the National Training Center with a 19-1, five-inning win over Thiel College Monday morning.

The Greyhounds scored twice in the top of the first inning versus Thiel. Sophomore outfielder Dior George led off the game with a triple, and she scored on an RBI grounder by junior outfielder Miranda Sergas. Sergas eventually scored on an infield fly by Taylor Mihalik when she tagged up at third base and beat the throw home.

Moravian pushed five runs across the plate in the top half of the second inning for a 7-0 lead. Senior shortstop Brook Kowal singled with one out and scored on an RBI triple by George, who then scored on a wild pitch. Sergas singled before junior catcher Cassie Ernst reached on a fielder's choice and sophomore designated player Jenn Dalickas had an RBI single scoring Sergas. Senior first baseman Amanda Dizinno hit an RBI single to score Ernst while Dalickas scored the final run of the inning on an RBI single from junior pitcher Elizabeth Tillou.

The Greyhounds added four more runs in the top of the third to push the lead to 11-0. George singled with one out and scored on an RBI single by Ernst. Dizinno had an RBI single in the inning while Mihalik added a two-RBI double.

Moravian scored six times in the top half of the fourth to build a 17-0 lead. Ernst drove in the first run with an RBI fielder choice that scored junior third baseman Rachel DeLucia. Junior second baseman Eavan Matz followed with an RBI single that chased George across the plate. Freshman first baseman Lindsay Sullivan delivered a two-RBI double in her first at-bat of the game. Tillou drove in the final two runs of the inning on a bases loaded fielder's choice.

Thiel scored a run on the bottom of the fourth inning, the first run allowed by the Greyhounds in 16 innings this season. Junior Leah Mantick drew a walk as a pinch hitter, and she scored on an RBI double by junior outfielder Morgan White.

The Greyhounds scored twice more in the top of the fifth inning before the NCAA eight-run rule took effect at the end of the inning. Sophomore pinch hitter Lizzie Mack had an RBI single that scored senior pinch hitter Alyssa Fegely, and Sullivan added an RBI single later in the inning.

Moravian had a 21-4 advantage in hits in the game with George going four-for-four with four runs. Dizinno and Sullivan each went two-for-two with Dizinno driving in four runs and Sullivan adding three RBIs. Tillou was two-for-four at the plate with three RBIs, and she picked up her first win of the season in the circle, allowing one run on four hits and a walk to go with two strikeouts in four innings of action. Freshman Carsin Conner tossed the final inning with one strikeout.

Freshman Allison Williams took the loss for Thiel.

Moravian would get right back on the field for its second game of the day versus Anna Maria (Mass.) College.
