CLERMONT, Fla. --- Senior pitcher Alyssa Fegely tossed her second career no-hitter to lead the 19th-ranked Moravian College softball team to an 8-0, five-inning win over Emerson (Mass.) College to open the 2013 season at the National Training Center Sunday afternoon.

Fegely had seven strikeouts in the victory, and she allowed five walks but would not allow any of the base runners to score in the game.

The Greyhounds gave Fegely all of the offense she needed with three runs in the top of the first inning. Sophomore outfielder Dior George started the game with a single, and she scored on an RBI double by senior third baseman Shannen Mohr. Sophomore designated player Jenn Dalickas followed with a two-run homer to left field.

Moravian added four runs in the top of the third inning for a 7-0 lead. Junior outfielder Miranda Sergas led off the inning with a single, and she scored on an RBI triple from junior catcher Cassie Ernst. Mohr connected on an RBI single to bring Ernst across the plate, and Mohr scored on an RBI double from Dalickas. Junior outfielder Taylor Mihalik finished the scoring with an RBI double that scored Dalickas.

The Greyhounds scored the final run in the top of the fourth inning when Sergas reached on an error to start the inning, and she scored on an infield RBI single from Mohr. The game would end in the fifth inning on the NCAA eight-run rule.

Moravian had 12 hits in the game with Mohr going three-for-three and Dalickas and Fegely each turning in two-for-three performances at the plate.

Emerson used two pitchers in the contest with junior Alicia Daniele suffering the loss after allowing seven runs on ten hits and a walk in three innings of action.

Moravian would return to the field right away for its second game of the day versus St. Vincent College.
